One of its metabolites is Modafinil (Provigil), so it's pretty similar. However, people seem to often get slightly different effects from both. As far as I know, the reasons for this are unclear, but it may be that Adrafinil is metabolized into more than just Modafinil.

Some people seem to prefer Adrafinil over Modafinil, others prefer Modafinil.

For me, Adrafinil's the only option. Modafinil's scheduled in Australia, and getting a prescription is remarkably hard. Adrafinil remains unscheduled, meaning I can import it for personal use.
