I have relatively severe OCD. The type that significantly intrudes on most of my daily activities. I have been on Nardil long-term, and it was helpful with depression, but not at all for OCD.

In fact, I've been in treatment for both OCD and bipolar for quite some time, and no one has ever mentioned an MAOI in the context of treating OCD. I'm currently on Emsam 9mg, but that's to help out with the down side of the BPD, not for the OCD.

I would highly recommend CBT for OCD. It's the only thing that has helped and, frankly, having been on every med that's used for OCD, my view is that none of them are very effective. Certainly, you can pump yourself up with a ton of benzos, but that's not treating the problem itself. CBT is a lot of work, but it's far more effective than meds for OCD, in my opinion.

If you do try CBT, make sure that you go to an OCD specialist.
