Concerns regarding Nardil 'Euphoria', 'Hypomania'

Posted by nutjob on April 11, 2007, at 20:10:24

I've read a number of posts in the archive where people report a kind of mania or euphoria as an intial response to Nardil. This really concerns me a great deal, as I am about to begin a trial of Nardil in an attempt to treat lifelong Generalized Social Anxiety. In the past I have had hypomanic reactions to high-dose prozac (60 mgs) and low-dose psychostimulants (10 mgs dextroamphetamine, 15 mgs methylphenidate). I have no desire to repeat such experiences. I don't want to be euphoric and wreckless--I only want to treat my anxiety disorder.

Might it be possible to keep the intensity of Nardil euphoria to a minimum until it finally dimishes or to prevent it altogether by initiating with a very low-dose (say, 15 mgs/day) and then increasing the dose in small increments over many weeks or months? Does anyone else have any experience or input regarding this matter?
