Phillipa, I can just feel your anxiety coming through as you are starting to doubt what this doc is doing. You are asking and getting alot of feedback from others and sometimes this is not good to do with anxiety since you are getting more input, which can cause more anxiety, in someone already anxious.

You may be better off not trying to get too much information during this time of med changes and just focus on taking one baby step at a time.

First, if Luvox wasn't working, then it needed to go away, right? Perhaps a taper would have made more sense and if that is true you could always say to your doc, "can I try to cut back to 25 mg since going cold turkey is making me feel terrible". Most docs would agree to that. At this point I would let it go since you've already gone a while without any in your system.

The benzo weaning process is not my strong point but if he said take 8 of Ativan and if I was afraid and only took 6, that is a positive thing. Don't get too caught up with all the details of dosage etc. if you can adjust as you feel necessary for now you may be better off in the long run as you can find the dose that help you the best. You're a nurse and this is what nurses do best. Fine tune the treatment plan without the doc! If the plan is ALL wrong, then by all means, call him up and discuss it with him. Don't rely on others here to help you straighten out logic etc. since only you can do that, unless you don't trust him enough and that is another issue entirely.

Your situation is not a straight forward one, to say the least, and most people here, as well intentioned as we all are, will not be able to give you the best guidance on what steps to follow.

I think you have to follow the plan within your ability to do so. For example, I adjust my doses within certain parameters, as I believe I have the best ability to do this, not my pdoc. I think you have to be the one who directs your treatment but not by resisting everything he does but by challenging his decisions when you have REAL doubts about what he is doing. But not by getting everyone elses opinions and causing more uncertainty and "splitting" of your trust in his ability to help you.

Sorry for bluntness but i feel strongly about this and hope you understand what I'm saying, YOu need to keep your focus on him and not second guess his approach. If what he is doing is the issue, then you have to address your concerns with him directly and not jeopardize your chance at getting better.

Good luck in this difficult time, it will get better, just hang in there a little longer...We can support you in that way but refrain from getting too much feedback on the specifics of your treatment. Some of your confusion can come from the meds changes so don't compound it any more than that...SG
