xanax is faster acting and doesn't last as long as Klonopin. It tends to be mood elevating, but also produces more problems with rage reactions. Klonopin is slower-onset, long-acting, and tends to be a mood stabilizer--its good for (hypo)mania and some complicated cases of depression. Personally, I found it helpful, but after 6months it made me kind of sad.
