- is non-beer and non-wine alcohol considered to be safe (like vodka)?
- which fruits should be avoided, which should be eaten in moderate amounts, which are perfectly safe?
- is NutraSweet safe?
Here's a list I've put together. Do you see any problems with it?
AVOID:
- aged cheeses
- any potentially spoiled meat
- liver
- bologna
- pepperoni
- salami
- fava beans
- sauerkraut
- soybean products
- tap beer
- red wine
- yeast extracts
- overripe avocados
- overripe bananas
- banana peels
- bean curd
- canned figsUSE WITH CATION:
- chocolate (safe to ingest for most patients, unless consumed in large amounts)
- peanuts (see chocolate)
- raspberries (see chocolate)
- spinach (see chocolate)
- sausage (see chocolate)
- wine (see chocolate)
- ginseng (may result in a headache, tremulousness, and manic-like symptoms)
- tofu (if more then a few days old)
- NutraSweet (occasionally causes reactions in people)
- bottled/canned beers (see chocolate)
- raisins (see chocolate)
- caffeine (see chocolate)DRUGS TO AVOID:
- cold remedies (Contac, Nyquil, TheraFlu, Alka-Seltzer Plus, CoTylenol, etc.)
- any drug that contains DXM (Robotussin, etc…)
- nasal decongestants
- most sinus, allergy, hay fever, and asthma medications
- epinephrine
- demerol
- barbiturates
- surgical anesthetics
- stimulants such as cocaine and MDMA
- opiates and some nonopiate analgesics such as meperidine
- other antidepressants
