Lamictal flushing

Posted by 1lablvr on October 21, 2006, at 18:54:48

I am new to this board. I've been on 200 mg Pamelor for 12 years, and it has kept my depression at bay, despite my mother's two year battle with cancer, and subsequent death. I also take 4.5 mg klonopin, and other meds. My generalized anxiety disorder is a greater problem than my depression.

I developed akathesia to Pamelor, and we increased the klon by .5mg to get me through some positive but significant changes. It was a band-aid, and we had to make some hard decisions. My psychoparmocologist started me on 25mg Lamictal. The next two days I was HAPPY. I had truly forgotten what that felt like. Two days later, I started having facial flushing that would start at 5pm, and last several hours. I often had this on Pamelor.

Because I have rosacea, I was familiar, but freaked out that it was SJS. We cut back to 10 mg. every other night, and I am still getting the flushing. Has anyone else had this side effect? Is it transient? The only other side effect is nausea. I take doxycycline for my rosacea, and this could be tearing up my stomach as well.

I am super sensitive to all medications, and can't take hardly anything.

I am going to stick it out because of those 4 wonderful days on 25 mg (actually, only two doses.)

Thoughts?

Thanks,
1lablvr
