Darn Parnate

Posted by tessellated on September 29, 2006, at 3:03:17

Hey Ya'll,

So I had a reasonably sucessful stint on parnate for nine or so months. It actually allowed me to get through a number of external depressive (death/heartbreak/jealousy) factors aside from my endogenous depression, and even at times draw creativity from the breadth in self awareness it offered.

But I recently stopped all meds including various low level augments, and found myself becoming the neighborhood nut. I continuously began to suffer from an amphetamine like psychosis during the withdrawl stage. Paranoia, surveillance, time travel, you name it. Life was like living a self induced crime/horror novel.

So now though I've found radical sucess from parnate, I'm sick, as are my friends and neighbors of my hallucinogenic freak outs. Its like the key to my personality nirvana includes an unraveling of consensual reality.

I'm wondering if others have had as extensive problems with parnate and psychosis, sometimes such as mild auditory glitche's. As I've been consulted that hallucinatory factors type me into the schizotypal area rather than either the manic or what I was at firs simply a monopolar depressive. Not a fun thing to hear nor ponder.

As well I'm an artist, so i'm falling into the mythos of the crazy artist type to a t. The experiences, emotions, sensations, are unbelievably stimulating and a lifetime of work lies ahead of me as long as i can find the stability to execute.

Were I in another era, or culture, this battle could be considered that of a soothsayer, or mystic, but here the taboo of psychosis is too potent for me. Sure it's ok for your neighbor to beat his wife but if he's talking about time travel and biolinguistics in a panic, he's gonna get a harder gnarly rep.

I'm calling out to others to just try to get a feel as to the statistical occurence of parnate psychosis (auditory or visual hallucinatory) experiences? Though as well I'm the guy that solved the parnate insomnia by changing to a 36/12 sleep schedule. Often not sleeping for two three days at a time rather than drugging myself into a stupor and missing the parnate peaks. So obviously sleep deprivation is a factor not to be underestimated.

Regardless, have y'all had any similar experiences in general? As my dilema is to go back to a low dose and seriously catalogue sleep and dosage, or to give up the family alltogether in fear of kindling a schizo like mental state.

The irony is turning my insides out. The price I pay for the escape from an amplified universal sadness is periodic paranoic insanity. I'm particularly interested in any Parnate Vets, and their experiences with the meds over years and any noticable long term MAOI induced changes.

All is one mind, yall.
