High dose Namenda

Posted by BIGDaddyachmed69 on September 9, 2006, at 10:58:31

I'm all about pushing the envelope...I can't help it, being treatment-resistant. My psychiatrist agreed to increase the dose of Namenda I was taking off-label for my OCD to 60 mg/ I know you're supposed to take it twice a day. The thing is, I've been taking it once a day...I'm supposed to take it when I get up in the morning and then again before I go to sleep. The way I see it, why do I need to dose before I go to sleep? I'm not going to benefit from it, as I'm going to be sleeping. I doubt that Namenda takes 4 to 6 weeks to fully kick in, like the SSRIs. It's an NMDA dissociatives (the recreational drugs PCP and Ketamine). They don't take 4 to 6 weeks to work. The effects are noticeable within an hour or two. I dunno...I'd hate to have to divide the dose in half, because 30 mg twice a day isn't strong enough in combatting the symptoms of my OCD. I need the full 60 mg. Anyway, if anybody's been on a relatively high dose of Namenda (memantine) or has an opinion on whether or not it makes more sense to take it just once a day, feel free to express yourself.
