> Many articles say that early morning headaches can be indicative of depression. Is there some medical explanation for this? I have also been taught that keeping good sleep hygiene/habits is necessary for mood stability. So if I awaken at 3 a.m. without a headache (after 4-5 hrs. of sleep) what good is it to make myself go back to sleep only to awaken 2 hours later with a horrendous headache? This whole phenomenon does not make sense to me!
> How should this problem be treated? Right now I take .25 mg clonazepam so that I can get to sleep. I have been taking it for 8 years.

I cant connect my situation to urs dierectly, but i do prefer a short sleep, esepcialy a daytime nap over a long nights sleep.

If and what i am doing is getting to bed at a fairly reasonable time, and awakening at 6 am,i feel energy,my meds work better and i have a time frame of 6 am to approx 12 pm where im most productive.

If for whatever reason i sleep in,which is not often,i awake feeling like someone beat on my body with bats all night,my head hurts,my depression is usualy bad, energy poor, and my meds take longer to work, its just all around a harder way.

Now this doesent make me look good to people wondering why i get up at 6 am,but its just the way it is.

Expaniation, well my sleep study doc gave me one..... while i DONT have sleep apnea my meds cause my brain to have bouts of awakening,my breathing is disotorted among other things,he just showed me the disrupted sleep pattern he saw.

His guess, even though im technicaly sleeping less hours,im experiancing less symptoms or problems since its a shorter lentgh of time, hence im getting more ACTUAL sleep, where as a full night im experiancing a lot of these problems he spoke of.

He couldent pinpoint exactly why i have certain problems as my brain showing activity through the night,or possable breathing problems, except that medications, esecialy combos,as well as the disorder itself, can manifest itself in probuably any way it wants to while u sleep.

I had a pretty good routine going waking at 6 but they just cancealed a re run show i kept on as i did my morning stuff and heard in the back ground, this actualy disapointed me a lot, seems harmless but i got used to it.

Am i better off continuing to use these sleep patterns,or instead force myself back to sleep and get a full nights or what is considered one, well i dunno, but for now i cant take any more downs so until anything new changes, ill keep it so. Hopefully this makes sense.
