You are right, it is not possible to predict how one will react to a drug- your explaination makes alot of sense

At the very least, if a drug has a beneficial effect on your mood or some other aspect of your health, a person's appetite may improve just from that, and there may be some weight gain. Beyond that, the drug may act directly on receptors involved in weight and appetite regulation, and what might cause one person to lose weight may have no effect or the opposite effect on someone else.
