Opioid apathy everlasting?

Posted by MrBrice on June 17, 2006, at 11:12:01

Hey guys,

I have to my regret a father who is using opioids to cure his alcohol-induced depression. Now he thinks he is doing allright but his life is so dull now. He can't even have a nice conversation anymore, he's not original anymore, the opiods have really made him so very apathic.
My docter agrees and says that opioids really make apathic people.

Now what I wonder: is thios apathy only there when u keep on using the stuff, or is it a reversible effect. When the opioid use stops, will he be able to return to his normal self again?
Or has he ruined his life for good?

thanks,
Brice
