Most doctors like to work up to 200mg of Lamictal. Many people feel something positive at lower dosages. However, this improvement often disappears and returns again only at a higher dosage. It might be premature to add another anticonvulsant mood-stabilizer at this point. That being said, I am not that impressed with Lamictal as an antidepressant when used as monotherapy. I think it works better when combined with other medications. Logically, it probably makes sense to wait until you reach 200mg of Lamictal for a few weeks before adding Topamax.
