Hi F

>Yet I thought my doc said that an anesthesiologist (emergency surgery) might not be too happy with such circumstances. Correct?

They would be concerned no doubt......but studies suggest that the interaction between MAOIs and epinephrine is infact relatively minimal. Certain sympathomimetic drugs have serious interactions with MAOIs, but epi is not one of them. An experienced and knowledgeable anesthesiologist would be vital. A medic-alert bracelet might be a good idea.

>Also, I assume that Demerol is an absolute no-no?

That's right. An alternative analgesic would be used. Demerol has more side effects than most opioids anyway, so avoiding it is a good thing :) Morphine would be appropriate if an opioid was necessary. A small initial dose would be given under close supervision. It is not likely that an interaction would occur.
