Well, it's clearly not a serious test. I scored 3 (prompting the question "Do you live in a monastery?") But I based some decisions to check yes or no on whether I did something a lot or a little. For example, I occasionally eat at my desk, but not usually, so I said no. Do I often shop as a form of recreation? Well, does browsing count the same as buying? Then there's the value system decision: is looking at pretty merchandise somehow different from looking at pretty flowers? To accurately gauge behavior, you'd need a scale of some sort.
Nonetheless, I do think there is a certain manic quality to American life today. Whether it's equally true of Swedish or Laotian or Argentine life, I couldn't say.
