This is one of those good news/bad news things: your doctor can't tell you how long it will take for this to pass, because you really won't know until it's passed. That's the bad news. The worse news is that it's pretty awful.

The good news is that 75mg is a low dose, so there's a good chance it won't be as bad as if the dose was higher. The better news is that your doctor can prescribe a couple of things to help you: the first is 37.5mg capsules of Effexor, so that you can taper down. The cold turkey withdrawal is -- let's just say there are better ways to do it. After stopping the 37.5mg capsules, you can take just one 10mg dose of Prozac, which should help mitigate the worst of the withdrawal.

And the even better news is that this site has a Withdrawal board about exactly this topic. You'll find a lot of good information there, from people who really do share your pain.

(And if Effexor was working for you, but you can't afford it, check out http://www.needymeds.com/ The big pharmaceutical companies all have "compassion" programs that supply drugs at no or very low cost for people who qualify. The information will be at that site.)

Good luck. I hope this helped.
