Unfortunately standard wait is anything between 2 and 4 months. Criminal, in the same way Heroin addicts can be waiting up to 12 months for Methadone treatment.

If your psychiatrist then suggests you need to see a psychotherapist (not my favourite people but anyway...) - well, you're looking at another 3 month wait minimum.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Have a look at this BBC video clip - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/default.stm - bottom right. The NHS head of Mental Health gets weighed into! The clip confirms your fears - Mental Health services are being CUT as we speak.

I wish I had a more fashionable illness, one that receives (positive) media attention and attracts fundraising...

24 hours to save the NHS? Yeah, right.
