Yeah, I remember reading somewhere that mice lacking certain cannabanoid receptors show impairments in neurogenesis. THC (believe it or not) is one of the few illicit substances that actually spurres hippocampal proliferation.
I think that exercise induced neurogenesis also dependant on an intact cannabanoid system.
So, in this sence, I can see how cannabanoid receptor blockade might induce depression.
