In reply to Wellbutrin ?, posted by redscarlet on December 21, 2005, at 11:32:07
Hi RedScarlet -
I took Wellbutrin at about 300mg last year. At first it was energizing but did not get rid of my depression. I was on Lexapro prior to that. Doctor added WB hoping to wake me up! I was a walking zombie (still going to work, being a Mom/Wife, etc., but doing it half-asleep!) After a few months on the WB alone (he wanted to see how it worked without the Lex first) - decreasing energy & clarity and sleepy again. So, yes, I guess it can make some people sleepy, as much as it is touted as an activating med!I went to Cymbalta - still sleepy and less helpful on depressive symptoms than Lexapro. Now, my doctor has me trying Effexor XR. A bit less sleepy, still not clear-headed/can't think straight, and depression symptoms are lurking at the door . . . not sure where I'm headed next!
Good luck to you! I know there are med combos out there that can work to lift depression yet keep you awake too. Let me know if you find them :-)
Happy New Year,
Lynne
