I think you should give it a try.

I take Zoloft and Buspar for anxiety with panic and it's been working well for about two years. Buspar is great for anxiety with SSRIs if you have to take the latter (for depression, for example).

Unfortunately, my experience with Buspar alone has not been so great, since it works best with a serotonin booster (by itself, I was depressive and had bad dreams).

Buspar is not a very exotic drug, just one that failed on the market as a precursor to the SSRIs in the 80s, because it boosts and suppresses serotonin at the same time (I know that seems strange), so it was good for anxiety but bad for depression. When you take it with an SSRI, Buspar helps lift the mood but modulates the anxiety producing, stimulating effect of the SSRI.
