personally, I'd avoid neuroleptics unless you are floridly psychotic as we speak. But...if you really want to go the antipsychotic route, you could take something besides Risperdal. Of all the atypicals, Risperdal has the most hormone issues, causes the most EPS, so on and so forth....Risperdal can also induce the "pseudo-Parkinsonian symptoms" found with the older antipsychotics: drooling, tremor, odd walk (ie "Thorazine Shuffle"). If you're lazy anyway (I am too) Abilify is good, since its usually non-drowsy...low-dose zyprexa could be useful; I'd avoid Geodon because of the heart-weirdness associated with it. Now..my question. What exactly is your personality disorder, and why are you so eager to "get rid of it" ? I know how it feels to be rejected, disliked, so on and so forth by everyone (parents included)...it sucks. For a while I thought psychiatric treatment wouuld "even me out" and make me more likable, but it didn't; the "ideal" personality in psychiatrists' minds, it seems, is someone rather flat and dull. By all means, seek treatment for disorders--depression, mania, psychosis, etc.--but dont make the mistake of allowing someone with a prescription pad to remold you. The results can be terrible.
