Fear of Sleeping

Posted by JochenK on June 16, 2005, at 11:59:21

Dear board members,

I have tapered off Effexor XR in the course of just a few days (I went from 225 mg/die to zero in six days). I generally tolerate this speed of cessation rather well, I have already made some experiences there.
But now there seems to be a strange side effect: I am literally afraid of going to sleep (I donīt suffer from sleep disorder or nightmares).
I simply canīt stand the thought of going to bed anymore ... resulting in me hanging around for hours and hours doing nothing, until I am so tired that staying awake is not an option any more.
Has anyone experienced similar effects? Does anyone know if there can be done anything about it?

I would appreciate help very much!
Jochen
