I hung in there far beyond my "best by" date. I think that I worked for so long because I could, somehow, even while making things even worse for myself. The tale goes on for a few decades by now. I remember when a doctor said to me after my first panic attack, "the question isn't whether you're able to do the job. the question is, why do the job in the first place?" He was so obnoxious, and so wise. I hated/loved that doctor. NHS, of all places... and he practiced very good medicine on me.

Happily (now THAT's a word you don't see at babble often), I will be able to fully concentrate on functioning at the highest level I can achieve, without the added stress of working.

It is (finally), a challenge I hope I am up to.
