I haven't been in touch with this site for some time, since I thought I was OK enough to stop taking Effexor, and the consequent withdrawal symptoms. I would like to let those having similar problems know that you are your own best friend in these situations.
I went to a Chinese medical expert - she is a doctor of medicine as well as a Chinese Herbalist.
However, she is a renowned diagnostician in the medical field, yet has given up medical practice top concentrate on Herbalism and other alternate
methods such as massage, etc.
I am now doing well on minimum dose Effexor (it made me worse upping the dose when I was feeling bad - I urge people to try and maintain a steady dose) and taking the herbals she prescribed for me three times a day religiously.
These herbals are not cheap, but I have found they help me enormously.
The first tablet is something called Xiao Yao Wan - The other is Dan Shen.
I would stress that you must take these only on the advice and dosage instructions of a reputable chinese herbalist, after a thorough physical examination and diagnosis by them, and also with the knowledge of your regular doctor.
I can only re-iterate my own experience, that these two herbals have helped me enormously, and thought I would pass it on.
I am also taking 1000mg equivalent of Omega 3 fish oils, as well as as many basic multi vitamins and minerals as I can afford, including Vitamin B6, B12, and folic acid.
I have also had tremendous help from the Anthony Robbins book, :Awaken the Giant Within - the sections relating to our internal dialogue with ourselves are brilliant.
We have to remember that WE are our own best friend - that WE have to take control of our life - and that WE are in charge of what is happening to us.
I urge everyone who is suffering to keep hanging in there, and to start to love themselves again and to keep strong.
