I was told that taking SSRI's for a long time to counteract anxiety and OCD (which is why I began taking them 8 years ago) can eventually lead to depression brought on by a gradual dampening of the availability of dopamine. That's why my pdoc wants me to try Wellbutrin--because it works on dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake. Every SSRI I've ever taken worked well up until the past couple of years, and now nothing seems to be cutting it. I just feel so lethargic and apathetic and vegetative--no desire or motivation whatsoever. This is NOT a problem that I ever had before. I even tried Luvox recently and worked all the way up to 250 mg. on it, but it only seemed to increase my lack of caring about anything (began overeating and sleeping too much--gained weight). So anyway, this is my last hope. And I hope it works! :)
