I know I'm going to spell this wrong, but here goes. SAM-e is s-adenlymethionine (or something like that). It's naturally found in all cells of the body.
It gained some popularity as an over the counter supplement, maybe around 10 years ago, when a pdoc at Columbia University wrote a book about it. His name is Richard Brown.
Brown said that he has some of his patients on it. He said that it does not work alone against depression for most of his patients, but it helps augment prescription antidepressants and has a good side effect profile.
It's also suppose to be good for the joints.
I tried it for a while. But it is very expensive and results among people have been mixed.
