Hi.

I've learned that some generic preparations act differently in the body than others, despite containing exactly the same active ingredient. First of all, they can have slightly different amounts of these ingredients. I think the FDA has a relaxed standard of accuracy for the measurement for generics. The second thing that can make these preparations different is the formulation of the excipients, inactive ingredients used as binders and fillers, and which can affect how completely the drug is digested.

It is possible that you might need a dosage adjustment after you make the switch. I think you should switch completely to the generic and not alternate between preparations. It will give you a better idea what's going on to report the effects to your doctor. The effects you describe can either be an increase in side effects from having more drug in your system or a return of depressive symptomology (rebound) that would occur from having too little drug in your system. I think a simple dosage adjustment should do the trick.
