Hi.

Memantine goes by the brand name Namenda. It was recently approved for use in treating moderate to severe Alzheimers Dementia. However, it has been used in Germany for over a decade. There, they also use it for Parkinsons Disease and, occasionally, for depression. Technically, memantine is a non-competitive NMDA glutamate receptor antagonist. There is some thought that this drug might also prevent developing tolerance to opioids and stimulants. There is much more reported evidence in the medical literature for the former than the latter.

I hope this helps.
