Zoloft + Remeron= Powerful/synergistic combo

I would think that the 15 mg of Remeron would put you to sleep within an hour. By taking the Remeron, you won't need any sleep meds or chloral hydrate which probably aren't that good for you anyway, since eventually you will not be able to sleep without them. I would take it at 9 pm, then you will be asleep by 10 pm & that is a pretty normal/common sleeping pattern. I wouldn't put on an act in front of psychiatrists because then you will get the wrong medicine. Your lucky they didn't put you on a mood stabilizer for mania. Your Zoloft dose seems to be kind of low, but I imagine that they are slowly increasing your dosage to avoid mania. Zoloft seems to work in most studies at 75mg but not at 50 mg. When you get up to higher doses of Zoloft 75-100 mg, it should be taken in the morning because it is activating.

Remeron + an SSRI is a very powerful/synergistic combo that may be ideal because Remeron blocks the Serotonin receptors that cause the bad side effects of insomnia, anorgasmia, & agitation allowing the Zoloft to work at the important Serotonin receptors. But it will probably take a month of an adequate dose of Zoloft at 75 mg before you will notice any difference, so don't give up- SSRIs take a long time to work. I noticed no difference with Prozac until the 5th week!

Also, it is important that people who are depressed need to get out in to the world & find a hobby or something that interests them. I have a tendency to isolate myself & watch excessive amounts of TV when depressed but that is the worst thing you can do. A happy life is generally a life where you are busy with interesting activities & hobbies. When you are doing something you are interested in your constant worries shut off especially if the activity requires concentration such as riding a mountain bike on a dirt trail, snowboarding, reading an interesting book. I don't know if you like history, but South Carolina is full of historical sites you can visit, or you can take a trip to the mountains or the beach & relax. If you spend too much time worrying about meds or posting messages on this board you will get more depressed & overreact to every small side effect that you have read about & could even be imagining. Try not to think about your meds, just take them & do other stuff with your spare time, they work best when you give them no thought!

Cheers,
3 Beer Effect
