It sounds like you and your husband are in a destructive codependent relationship that's making things worse for the children. You sound very depressed, and i'd maybe try seeing a psychologist instead of more medication if it isn't helping. It can't hurt to see a shrink, and therapy combined with medication has consistently proven to be the best way to get well. You don't list what meds you've tried, but there are plenty of other medication classes for what you're suffering with. There's MAOI's, tryciclics, electroconvulsive therapy, antipsychotics, etc. So don't give up hope, and keep your chin up...things will get better.

I'm one of those difficult cases. I've tried counseling and should probably go back but I just haven't found a good counselor.

Doctors exaggerate the dietary restrictions of these meds, and as long as you don't have an eating disorder you shouldn't have a problem with them. It sounds like your pdoc is missing the boat also. Tryciclic for what you suffer from? No way...too many side effects and not enough effectiveness. Plus to keep switching between antipsychotics is pointless..if one or two doesn't work chances are most of them won't either.

I have read what you can and cannot eat when taking an maoi. It seems really strict. Can you post a link or something regaurding the diet restrictions? I'd love to see it.
Right now I think my major problem is i keep slipping into this major depression. It always starts out with the anger, self distruction and not feeling any kind of loving feelings towards my family. It's like i'm numb. but then it turns into a major depression.
