Thanks for your response. I actually haven't tried an MAOI yet, I haven't discussed it with my pdoc (I see her today)--she has not mentioned it and my guess is that she would rather have me try some more med combinations before we go to that. She DID say that if things got REALLY bad (as if not being able to work for two years isn't bad enough!) she would OK a benzo very short-term. I may just take her up on it some day, see how it is, and if it helps very dramatically I'd beg to keep it on my med list longer. I like her, she seems very reasonable (not many pdocs would even consider a benzo especially with my addiction) and is the first to understand that the anxiety component is severe (most focus on the depression; I guess suicidal ideation takes precedence. Actually it is interesting if you think about it--yes the suicidal thougts are unpleasant and the depresson keeps me from enjoying life, but it is the anxiety that keeps me from going out and even trying to enjoy life and be more around others)
I have tried various combinations--an ideal combo for two months was Lexapro, clomipramine, geodon, and amantadine, but it pooped out. I am now trying "mood stabilizer + x" still choosing x, and I will probably add a Y as well.
