HI

I was on Nortriptyline - up to 200 mg ( I think?). First the bad stuff: side effects while starting the med for me included akathasia (a feeling of internal restlessness) which eventually went away but I had to go on Ativan for a while because of it. Other side effects that continued were increased sweating and shakey hands.

Now the good stuff: it helped pretty well with my stubborn depression. Compared to most other antidepressants I've been on, this one helped most with motivation and lethargy. I also had NO sexual side effects at all. Another good thing is that they ccan do blood tests to find the therapeutic window.

My doc also had me on Dexedrine to help augment it since my main symptoms were/are apathy, lethargy, fatigue, low motivation, etc.

Why am I off it? The shakey hands hindered my music playing (I play cello) and it got so bad people at work would notice my hands shaking. But now that I think of it - it really helped with social isolation too.

Hope this helps.
Jerry
