It could be because Provigil is not an anti-depressant?
Sorry, just being silly there. My experience with Provigil was basically positive, and it was a life saver during a period when I was otherwise unmedicated. (Even calmed me down a bit, but then I'm a bit weird...) It didn't address my depression per se, but the improved energy and ability to focus on a task to completion did help. I think that's the part that makes it seem as if the Provigil is affecting depression.
Another factor to take into consideration is that the meaning of "depression" varies a lot, according to the context. Most of us here mean someone who has been dx'd with Major Depressive Episodes, often Recurrent, and either Moderate or Severe. In other words, we mean someone who is very depressed, and has been officially diagnosed as such. Many other people, though, will use depression to describe what the DSM would call MDD-Mild, or Dysthymia, or even just boredom. Many times, just the attention from a doctor who prescribes a medication can relieve a good many symptoms of "depression", and the placebo effect can correct the rest. Under those circumstances, I think a roll of Life Savers would look like a pretty good anti-depressant, you know?
(I'm not familiar with RemedyFind, by the way, so I know nothing about the demographics over there.)
I hope those thoughts help, and I seek forgiveness in advance for any offense I may have caused in offering a genuinely held view.
