They reason why my doctor approved me to take 600mg of Provigil (eventhough he can only prescribe the recommended dose of 400mg) is that there was a study done by a psychiatrist that I once came across showing that Provigil is not really effective in treating ADHD until you get to 600-800mg. Thats why I believe Cephalon is having mixed results with their ADHD studies, because they are using too low of dosages. Athough they had a more successful study recently and want to get the FDA to approve Provigil for ADHD by creating a 450mg tablet (that would be one hell of a horse pill!!). I am just trying to find this study so I can post it on here. Anyone who decided to talk to your doctor and try 600-800mg of provigil (when 200-400mg did not do anything) to help ADHD or depressive symptoms, let me know. However, athough Provigil seems to fill in the gaps between stimulant dosages for me, if feasable, take a 3-4 day holiday of your stimulants (check with your doctor) so that your ADHD symtoms come back like Amotivation, restlessness, etc. Then after 3-4 days take the higher dosage of Provigil and see if it works by making you feel more awake, vigilant, and motivated in the ADHD sense (takes about 1-3 hours). You may be like "wow" if it works for you, thats what it did for me. It will not completely address your symptoms so re add your stimulants, at lower dosages to help with deeper focusing and organization issues. Once you back on the stimulants, you will hardly even notice the Provigil because both medications are treating the same symptoms and since stimulants are more powerful they will mask the effects of Provigil, but you may not notice any more fluctation between dosages of stimulant and you may also notice a greater sense of well being, and express positive body language. It's work so far continously for 2 weeks, I a hoping this treatment can work for awhile so I can finally accomplish my goals without so many bumps.
