AP's and ECT (electric shock), meds, no meds. They sort of warp your sense of reality. It took me about 5 years of continued treatment to realize how it all works, what is real and what is not. It may be posible that when you are on meds you verbilize you simptoms of illness and understand them in a more logical way. My other guess is the shock treatments they gave you are the thing you realy don't understand. ECT's will erase portions of your short term memory, for befor treatment. You may feel sort of stupid and not sure what to think. The ECT's were to erase the very major stress that you were experiencing befor ECT, it works, and in time you will get you memorie back, at which time you will be able to understand what you were going through much better than you can now. The truth is the doctor is trying to reduce your stress with meds and treatment, so you can go on and live life like you were befor, forgetting about the stress. Sure you want to understand it all now and want to figure it out by yourself and deal with it. But it is too much to understand now, you need trust the doctor, the more you trust the doctor the easyer they are to deal with.
Its true drugs can cause stress. My illness, or part of it, is called drug induced psychotic depression. It all started with a traumatic experience, this I was dealing with untill I smoked a joint, thats when I got very ill. I was treating myself for many years with illegal drugs and alcohol it all added up with the PTSD, and presto major stress. Now I treat it all with the wonderfull legal drugs that my doctor gives me. Stress sucks, I use to have more than I could deal with without wanting to kill myself or just go plain psychotic, so I got treatment. Now I don't have to go through all that.
