A quote:
"Pfizer received a non-approvable letter for Lyrica for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder."
Their prize Neurotonin is losing patent status and like many companies, they are tweaking a formulation to have a patented product. At this time, if things go as they are going, using this med for anything other than neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, and as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of partial seizures in adults would be off label useage - doesn't mean that's a bad thing or that it isn't a good med for anxiety disorders - but it does mean a problematic situation for some of us to obtain and/or have cost coverage to a med that most likely will be quite costly.
I'm slightly interested myself, even though my current med is working well and I'm not sure I really want to change to another drug class with potentially higher long term risks, but I am somewhat interested.
Time will tell how this plays out with the US FDA.
