Theoretically, the total strength is the same between the different versions, assuming you have the same total number of mg of each, and the big difference is in how quickly they release. The more quickly the drug releases, the more often it needs to be taken each day. However, that doesn't mean that 1 x 300 mg of XL will have exactly the same effects as 2 x 150 mg of the SR, as the SR is still going to release faster. Different people may prefer different versions.
