In reply to bipolar II - can't function at work!!!, posted by scremers on September 27, 2004, at 12:34:22
Oh, scremers, I have been where you are now. When I was dx'd almost a year ago with bipolarII, it took months for my p-doc and I to arrive at the correct meds and dosage.
I thought my job was in serious jeopardy. (Have you been warned about your absences?) I had a spectacular day of sobbing my eyes to their glorious puffiness and asked to speak to my boss's boss in private.
I told her I had a chronic condition that had to be monitored closely so that I could function again. I asked if my job was in jeopardy - she told me no. What I tried to do on my end was the schedule my appointments at the end of the work day or as close to it as I could. As long as I knew the time and dates of my appointments for the next few weeks, I felt pretty good.
My employer was willing to work with me so they could get a productive employee back. Do you think you hate this job partly because of your illness?
What are you taking currently for your bipolarII?
Take care,
pc
