risperdal - weight gain or apetite increase??

Posted by becksA on September 16, 2004, at 14:21:05

I'm on 1.5 mg of risperdal daily for emotional stability...it helps keep me calm, helps a bit with my anxiety...however, I work out every day, running and lifting, and still cannot lose weight. If i miss a single day of running, or have ice cream late at night for example, I'll notice it the next day. I'm almost positive it's the risperdal as Ive heard it can cause weight gain.
It doesn't seem to be an apetite increase...or is it? (I don't find myself eating more, only at dinner because I have worked out and not eaten all afternoon). The dexadrine for ADHD helps fend off hunger throughout most of the day.
Is there another drug that I can try (Lamictal?) that will do the same thing for me but without the weight gain?
