i remember chemist gave a detailed analysis of the pharmacokinetics of various benzos, including clonazepam. I think he said that there was something called 7-nitro clonazepam which was mostly inactive. He contrasted it with diazepam which does have an active metabolite.
on charts of benzo properties clonazepam never turns up as one with an active metabolite. Clorazepate is the one that is inactive until metabolized.
