Dextromethorphan to reverse Dexedrine tolerance?

Posted by Philidor on August 18, 2004, at 15:27:39

Could the use of an OTC drug like dextromethorphan prevent, halt or reverse tolerance to dexedrine or Ritalin? A big problem with therapeutic use of these stimulants for people with ADHD is that tolerance often builds up quickly to the effects, rendering them useless.
Researchers not long ago found that teeny-tiny doses of dextromethorphan, normally an opiate inhibitor, became, paradoxically, an opiate enhancer when taken in wee-small doses instead:

So I was wondering if dexedrine tolerance could be reversed by the same or analogous means. Has this been tried.(I know it may be a naive question, but maybe one of you brain-o bio-chemists out there will tell me if I'm on to something. Please be gentle.)
