neurontin dosing and tolerance

i know this has been discussed many times but wanted to bring it up again.

i am now on neurontin 800mg tablets. i am doing them 3 tabs a day. they worked well at first, but then they pooped out. i upped the dose, and they worked again.

so i tried waiting 2 weeks without using them. low and behold , they worked again at the lowest dosage.

what gives with neurontin, and what are peoples experiences with it, dosing wise, for neuropathic pain, anxiety/phobia, mood etc..
