PLANNING my withdrawl from Effexor XR

Posted by Johnny Doe on August 12, 2004, at 1:16:59

I'm a 20 year old male (soon to be 21) attending college. I've been on anti-anxiety/depression meds for just about 3 years now. I started on Paxil because of extreme social anxiety, and after 7 months or so I was switched to Effexor XR. At one point my dosage was up to 225mg a day, but I soon came down to 150mg about a year ago. I have tried to come off Effexor (the devil) several times. Every time I suffered from many of the common side-effects (nausea, diaherrea, extreme anxiety and racing thoughts being the most prevelant).
The last time I tried to come off and did not succeed (notice I say "not succeed" instead of "failed"), I came back and only started taking 75 mg a day, and I've been there for about 8 months now. To be honest, I feel great, aside from very minor sexual side-effects. It is, however, been my goal to come off physcho-medication completely, but I want to do it right this time. I've already decided to do it right before my winter break, so I'll have a solid month of little responsibility and presure. I was wondering, though, if anyone had any good advice for me to plan out how I will do this. Such as medication schedule, and if the withdrawl will be that bad since I'm only at 75mg right now.

Thanks
