Hi there. I'm not bipolar (at least from my understanding I'm not) but I've found Trazodone (which is typically used as a sleep aid) to be effective as a mild anti-anxiety. I also agree with you 100 percent on the benzo issue, I have generalized anxiety that waxes and wains according to stress in life, and refuse benzos because I'd just be taking them all the time and get myself into more hot water.
another option is Lamitcal according to my PDOC for anxiety and agitation, though there is that dum rash to worry about.

> As to the right med. for 'Anxiety' for Bp,.... in my case, I take 'Zyprexa' 5 mg. and Nefadozone(a generic form of Serzone). The former is multi-purpose properties which offers a great relief on 'Rapid Cycler,' 'depressive side of Bp,' 'Anxiety,' and 'sleep VERY well.' The latter is truly an Anti-dep., but works well for 'Anxiety' as well.
> Concerning SSRIs, I too agree with you. Most of SSRIs produce, at least brings up 'manic,' or worse of all, makes 'Rapid Cycler' getting worse.
