> Even though you are probably too young for the menopause one of the best explanations of weight gain that comes even with dieting and exercise is in a book called "Getting throught the Menopause Without Weight Gain".

Ignorant people need to be ignored or put int their place gently and surely. One of my favorite returns is, "I didn't know you cared so much for me that you keep track of my weight. Do you also keep track of my bowel movements?"

> If that's too crass for you, try something you can say that is a little funny and also says, back off. Or if funny isn't your style, how about, "Sorry, I'm not in the mood to talk about my weight. If you want to set up a time we can talk about yours?" Or just "Look, I'm very busy right now. Is there anything else?" Hope you get support for this.

I LOVE THESE COMEBACKS! I will definitely use these. I have also gained 25 lbs on Effexor and am trying to slow the gain by diet and exercise, but every week the scale goes up. It is mind boggling!
