I can't even begin to describe how much gentler Provigil is for me while still keeping me "up". It's hard for me to relate to how it needs to be a controlled substance at all. I've dropped it cold turkey for weeks at a time with no withdrawal effect...just loss of the benefits it brings for my social anxiety, plus of course diminished wakefulness. I love the way I can mentally control the stuff: If I want to take a nap in early afternoon, no problem. But if I want to be wide awake, I am. Maybe it would be different if I weren't taking Klonopin at the same time, but then again, I was on Klonopin when I was taking the other stims, too.

i take 100 mg provigil am, plus clonazepam .5 mg bid, nortriptyline 75 mg pm.

i got a free starter pack of provigil, but my pdoc told me that my insurance may not cover it. if not i'm going to start ritalin.

provigil has caused some insomnia, which is a classic stim s/e. I think a lot of the reason for our differing responses to stimulants is that i have severe ADD, and people with ADD often respond to stimulants by being calmed.

i would be happy to stay on provigil, but i actually think that any stimulant would help my condition.

at 100 mg i feel no benefit in wakefulness, so maybe older would be better anyway.
