My highest dosage of Effexor XR was 367.5mg/daily. I had brain zaps while on the med. That was the reason I weaned off of it. For me, I only decreased by 37.5mg each week until I was completely off of it. It took about 3 weeks - one month after being off the Effexor XR for the brain zaps to end. I didn't find weaning all that difficult since I already had the brain zaps while taking the Effexor XR.
I have read on this board that others have taken Prozac to help with withdrawal symptoms. I didn't take anything to help me.
