I've used Klonopin as-needed for 2 years. I try to avoid it when studying cause it makes me more sleepy. Studying is already sleep-inducing in itself and I don't want to compound the problem. The only time I might use while studying, is for anticipatory anxiety so I can sleep the night before certain exams. I hate seminars/oral exams/presentations or anything that requires me to speak.

I've used klonopin during exams on many occassions (both written and verbal). I have found that it can sometimes help when I'm extremely anxious. If I take too much, I'm definitely slower and can forget stuff that I do, say, write during the exam...although it doesn't appear to affect stuff I learned prior to the event. So I can do well even though I can't recall any of it after the fact. Of course, without klonopin plus the anxiety-provoking exam/presentation, I have the IQ and memory of a squirrel...a red, trembling squirrel who's ready to pass out. So the decision is an easy one for me.

Overal I doubt klonopin's negative cognitive/memory effects will greatly affect your studies. If you're an 'A' student, you'll still be an 'A' student with or without klonopin. At least, that has been my experience so far.
