I read it was some old antianxiety used in the late 50's before the benzodiazepines.
My grandpa still takes it, i had insomnia when we were camping on a hiking trail. I was too paranoid i would i would get attack by something, didnt know, a bear, moose, big foot, anything. Finally he just said take a miltown, and shut up. Had never heard of it before, but it worked. I heard it has barbiturate-like actions, exept not as toxic.
asked him how long he's taken it, siad off and on from way back in the 50's. Apparently he told me everyone took it at one time, it was a blockbuster like prozac. Then it just burned out after Valium came in the 60's.
How does anyone one know why it didnt stay around?
