Effexor, its effects and changes and withdrawals

Posted by linda-may on April 22, 2004, at 7:31:15

I have been taking effexor for almost 2 years. I started at 37.5 and went to 75. stayed there for a while.. went gradually higher and higher at MY reguest to my dr. as i felt i was sliding "back".
now, i find my dosage of 225mg a day is having side effects of a different type which are unpleasant - weight gain, loss of libido - so, i'm weaning off at -37.5mg for 2 week periods. this should take me a couple of months. he said if i started to feel "shaky" at any point, to just maintain the most recent dosage for another week. he has also put me on lectopam for occasional anxiety relief. he knows what he's talking about and what he's doing and he trusts ME to follow his instructions. i'll keep u posted re side-effects/progress etc.
good luck to u all, regardless of what phase U'r in. It's GOT to get better!!
